Split personalities are always a good subject for the movies. You can do wonders with them and there is always room for a twist or two.
Carter Nix (John Lithgow) is a psychologist who specializes in children. His father wrote a book on child development and the son is following his footsteps. However, his wife is concerned about his husband`s behaviour which is, to put it mildly, odd. What she does not know is that Carter Nix carries inside of him four sub-personalities, created by his father for the purpose of exploring the child psyche.
Brian de Palma manages to put comedy and thriller, laughter and horror into one movie. It fails however, to fully develop the story and we are left with the middle section, no background and no aftermath. However, it does manages to hold the story and twists together and create a movie that sticks together and does not fall apart at the end. A good horror movie with a bad drama twist on the side.
