Another cultural cherry popped. This time we went to see the opera from Gusieppe Verdi, Trubadur. First a small trivia fact – I cannot find a single website that links Verdi with Trubadur. The Trubadur opera is not listed in Verdi`s shall we say discography. Does anybody has an explanation?
First time at the opera and I must say that it was a real pleasure. The male voices were particullary good, accompanied with the choir.
I do have one complaint though. The ending was a disaster. The last scene happened too fast and I think the director would be better off if he/she told the singers to just wait a few moments so that the audience would feel the chatarsis.
The scene was interesting (mind you, this is my first opera experience so I have nothing to compare it to) and I liked the modern-going-into-retro style. The opera was performed in italian with supertitles (the opposite of subtitles) which did not bother me.
All in all, a great experience, despite bad end directing and shrieking voices of the female singers 😉
